System Requirements
-------------------

Windows:
    Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP or compatible
    500MHz CPU or better
    64MB memory or better
    3D graphics card (with recent OpenGL driver highly recommended)

Linux/x86:
    350MHz CPU or better
    64MB memory or better
    Correctly-configured 3D graphics card and drivers supporting OpenGL
    glibc6 2.1, libSDL-1.2.5, libgcc_s.so.1 or compatible


Launching
---------

On Windows, double-click the desktop icon to begin playing.  Alternatively
you may select 'Programs -> Love Invaders' from the Start Menu.

Linux users should run the 'linv' program from the directory into which
they unpacked or installed Love Invaders.


Playing
-------

Spacebar starts the game.
Spacebar fires.  Left/right cursor keys move your ship left and right.
Alternatively you may use a joystick to control the ship.

'm' toggles music.  Esc exits the program.


Troubleshooting
---------------

Q: I'm on Windows and this game won't run fullscreen!
A: It is likely that your OpenGL 3D drivers are missing or too old.  Please
  visit the web site of your 3D graphics card or system manufacturer for
  updated drivers.

Q: I'm on Windows and this game just isn't very smooth.
A: It is likely that your OpenGL 3D drivers are missing or too old.  Please
  visit the web site of your 3D graphics card or system manufacturer for
  updated drivers.  Alternatively, your system may simply be too slow to
  offer a pleasant experience with this game; please check that your system
  meets the 'System Requirements' listed in the section above.

Q: I'm on Windows; why does ZoneAlarm whine when Love Invaders is run?
A: The game wishes to check Steambird's website automatically for notices
  of any important updates, fixes or announcements that are available.

Q: I'm on Linux and this game just isn't very smooth.
A: It is likely that your OpenGL 3D drivers are missing, misconfigured, or
  too old.  Please visit the web site of your Linux distribution or X server
  vendor for updated drivers.  Alternatively, your system may simply be too
  slow to offer a pleasant experience with this game; please check that your
  system meets the 'System Requirements' listed in the section above.

Q: I'm on Linux and I just get something like 'error while loading shared
  libraries: libSDL-1.2.so.0: cannot open shared object file' when I try
  to launch the game.
A: You need to install a recent version of libSDL 1.2.  You can get this
  from <http://www.libsdl.org/> or through your Linux distribution's update
  mechanism.

Q: I'm on Linux and I just get something like 'error while loading shared
  libraries: libgcc_s.so.1: cannot open shared object file' when I try
  to launch the game.
A: You need to install a version of libgcc_s.so from GCC3 or higher.
  You can get this through your Linux distribution's update mechanism.

Q: I'm on Linux and the audio sounds like it's stuttering p-p-p-p-p-p at me.
A: This is usually caused by a bug in your system's soundcard drivers.  Try
  to upgrade your soundcard drivers.  Alternatively, if you are using the OSS
  audio drivers then try ALSA audio drivers instead (or vice versa).  Consult
  the web or your Linux distribution's documentation for details.

Q: Love Invaders isn't translated into my language.
A: We welcome volunteers to translate Love Invaders into more languages.
  If you're interested then please email us at <translate@steambird.com>.
  If you're technically-minded and itching to get started then have a look
  at the resources\l10n\readme.txt file for how to set up a home-made
  translation.

Q: I have a problem that isn't mentioned here.
A: After attempting to run the game, please locate a folder on your
  system called '.steambird' (on Linux this is ~/.steambird) and the file
  within there called 'log.txt'.  Email it to <linv@steambird.com> with a
  description of your problem.  Attaching your log.txt file is very important
  as it will help us to identify and fix your problem.  We cannot guarantee
  a personal response but will endeavour to investigate the problem and
  include a fix in the next upgrade where possible.

Q: Everything looks monochrome and chunky.
A: That's how games used to look.  Relax and enjoy it!
